I asked my friend Glenda Warmoth, owner of Rosy and Gray, to tell me more about her reusable snack bags, and what her favorite snacks are for kids on the go.  She said, "As a parent I'm a big fan of anything that be easily cleaned with minimal effort. The snack bags I've made for my shop are no exception.  Each bag is lined with unbleached muslin fabric and has a cotton exterior. I also happen to be a HUGE Hello Kitty fan to my bags generally feature a Hello Kitty applique. In our family the snack bags are used to transport crackers and sliced apples or cucumber spears in our diaper bag.  I've found I can bring a larger quantity of snack with me as they take up less space in our bag."  ~ Parents: What are you favorite to-go snack items? ~

I asked my friend Katherine Zinger-Miller, owner of Katia's Chocolates, what dessert item she and her daughter have been enjoying lately.  She said one of her daughter's favorite treats right now is pears sauteed with cinnamon and nutmeg, served warm with vanilla ice cream. She sautes the pear slices in butter, cinnamon and nutmeg until they are soft. She says it's like eating the inside of a warm pear pie, and it works well with apples too. ~  Parents: What gourmet delicacies do your young gourmets enjoy? ~

When we received the book It's Challah Time! from The PJ Library Tiny was only a few months old.  I read it to her a couple of times and then put it away on the cookbook shelf. Cut to a year later and my tot loves to "mix it" as she says. Her baking career started with the challah recipe at the end of this book.  We each had a friend over to help bake round challahs for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. I had prepared the sweet dough ahead of time and let the tots play with it and cover it in sprinkles. Tiny's pal still can't enter our house without saying "brinkles" and having a couple of the little jimmies as a snack.  It is a sweet new year indeed.  ~ Parents: What have your baby bakers made so far? ~

Whenever I ask Tiny what shirt she'd like to wear she always says "hoo-koo" (hook 'em) shirt!" But she is no stranger to Nordstrom and their cafe!  On our last trip there I ordered her the kid's pizza meal, and I have to say I may have enjoyed it more than she did.  The thin crust was great, and it was huge for the low price!  The coloring placemat and plastic cup are still here at home with us as well!  ~ Parents: Do your kids have a favorite kid's meal, whether on their own menu or yours? ~
